Sundays are the best day

I woke up this morning at what has become my regular wake-up time - between 7:30 and 8 am - went online for a little bit, watched a season one episode of Battlestar Galactica and then fell back to sleep. Obviously, I was still tired. I only woke up a little while ago, enjoyed leftover Korean food (veggies and tofu - so good!) and watched a few ( Read more... )

I like Alton because of the science he dispenses, but for real fun watch Giada De Laurentiis' Everyday Italian. It's amazing that the show isn't rated MA. It's just that dirty without her even realizing it. Or if she does, she's a diabolical genius.

I appreciate what AB does, because it's interesting, even if he is cooking meat. But I do like Everyday Italian. At least from the handful of episodes that I've seen of the show. She came on after Good Eats, so I watched that as well and the recipes all lent themselves fairly well to veganism. Which is a plus.

I must've missed out on the "fun" aspect of her show though.

Jaime Oliver did an AMAZING vegetarian episode of his show (not vegan, but you could easily change some and make them so): http://www.foodtv.ca/tv/shows/titledetails/title_54838.asp

The Mushroom Sarnie one is so good it makes me want to cry! I've made it several times, and it's easy too.

As for Alton, I adore him and I too wish he'd do more shows on veggies. I just one devoted to carrots, so that's a good step!

Oh, excellent! I shall have fun perusing these. The Everyday Italian episode that I saw yesterday had a number of vegetarian (alas, not vegan)-friendly or adaptable recipes that I'm looking forward to making.

I love mushrooms, so I can't wait to try out the Mushroom Samie.

Ooops. That should've been Sarnie. I am apparently illiterate. Regarding the Sarnie, what could you use instead of the Dijon mustard? I really, really dislike mustard. Yes. I'm odd.

Also, here's the link to the Everyday Italian recipes. I can't wait to try out the soup with the cornbread and the hot chocolate.

See, that's funny, because I've never seen Alton Brown cook meat! I've only seen episodes like the Tea episode (my FAVE) and the honey episode and the one where he discusses merangue.
