And I'm back in Rochester for break. Whee! Exciting! Maybe I'll actually get to spend some time with people this time. It seems like every time I come back I either don't get to see the people that I want, or I don't get nearly enough time with them. Gah!
This week has been interesting. Full of wonderful homework for the first part. Thursday night Wendy and I went bowling with a bunch of the guys down the hall. I almost won, but Dylan beat me by one flippin' point. That boy! Then we went and played pool until 1:00 in the morning. Friday was my last full microcomputing lecture. Oh HAPPY DAY!!!! Wendy was working the pm shift on Friday, so I ended up having a movie marathon with Dylan and Derek in Derek's room/entertainment center. Wendy joined us later. Then Derek had to go and pick up a friend from a party who'd had a few too many. He then brought this completely smashed friend (Tim) back with him, where more fun ensued. This included Dylan getting hit on by Tim, Tim being WAY too loud and us getting yelled at by the RA, and lots of very interesting political discussions.
Saturday night I had to work the pm shift. It was the deadest shift I've ever had. I walked in and asked how many check ins we had. 12. 12 over the entire night. And 3 of them were coming after our shift, so in reality we were all hanging around to do 9 check ins. And I got stuck working the switchboard. So I basically got paid to sit there and do my homework. Things started getting interesting around 8, however, when Mike, Dylan, and Wendy decided to prank call me at work. I picked up the phone and just heard, in a really high-pitched (but obviously male) voice saying "HELLO!!! My name is Barbera Walters! You might have seen my work on Sesame Street! And I'd like to reserve a roooooom!!" At that point I was just staring at the phone thinking "who the f...?" and then I heard a normal guy voice saying "Sarah. It's Mike. Please don't really transfer me to the reservationist." And so a half hour later they all dropped by and hung out in the back office until the end of my shift. Arthur (my manager and student mentor) didn't mind. Got used to them being there after a while. We also got to see Arthur beat the crap out of the copier, which was pretty funny. The scene went as follows:
Arthur: Damn copier!
Wendy: Arthur, if you want the copier to work, you need to show it some love. Come on Arthur, what's the copier's name?
Arthur: It's name is Bastard!!!
Wendy: No, it's name is Rikko. Now Arthur, show the copier some love
Arthur: (hits the copier really hard several times) Crappy-ass bastard copier!
After work, we decided at the last minute to go to a formal that one of the frats was having that night. Dylan was my date, and Mike went with Wendy. There was a freakin' LIMO PICKUP outside one of the dorms. So awesome!! The party was fun too. There were drunk people running all over for us to laugh at. And there was a live band!! They were soooo good. We danced for hours. And as a result of this party, Wendy now has a German sophomore stalker. Really creepy. When we got home we made smores in Dylan's microwave, listened to Dylan play the cello he keeps under his bed (he's REALLY good. We were all impressed), and watched Saved By the Bell. Wendy and I fell asleep. Dylan and Mike apparently laughed a lot at us.
Pulled an all-nighter on Monday in order to finish my stupid government paper on interest groups. Blech. Fell asleep on the couch waiting for breakfast to start being served. Slept through my first class on accident. So when I was going to class later that day completely dead, Dylan called from his biology class to say "this is your 1:15 wakeup call. Just making sure you're not sleeping." How sweet!
OH! BIG NEWS OF THE WEEKEND! ARTHUR IS ENGAGED! He finally proposed to Grace in NYC last weekend, so that's been the buzz of the office lately. Her ring is gorgeous. He was romantic. Why are there not more guys like Arthur Chang?
And now I'm back in Rochester for the weekend. Going to Buffalo tomorrow for Thanksgiving, then staying an overnight in E-Ville. Coming home Friday. Anyone wanna do anything this weekend?
