Visiting Elizabeth wasn't exactly part of the plan.

But then again, Jack Sparrow had never been a man who relied on plans. He had went looking for the Fountain of Youth, and hadn't found a thing. Months later, he found himself standing on Elizabeth Turner's doorstep.

He knew he wouldn't be staying on the island long. He had to make a visit to London, do some things there. When he watched Elizabeth get into the longboat to spend her one day with Will, his heart broke. He forced himself to sail for the Fountain, to try and get the Black Pearl back. He was more focused than he had ever been in his life. He was also more angry than he had ever been in his life, more depressed.

He couldn't believe he had let her do it. He couldn't believe had sailed away and left her on the island. He wanted that woman. He loved that woman. Maybe more than he had ever loved any woman, more Tia. More than Angelica, even. That wound still smarted, too. At least he had made the decision to leave Angelica. Elizabeth had chosen to marry a man she could never truly be with.

Jack didn't understand why fate was torturing him. Elizabeth and his father, the murderous Captain Teague, lived on the same island. He was bound to them both, in a way, and could never really sever himself, even though he kept trying. He drank and drank to wash Elizabeth's kiss from his lips, but the stain would never go away. The kiss had killed him and yet, the woman plagued his thoughts all the time.

He told himself, when he arrived on the island, that he was visiting his father. And he went by his father's house, to be sure. Stayed a few hours, had a drink. It was Christmas Eve, after all. He could tell himself that he wanted to visit Teague. He could tell himself that he would never again think about or see Elizabeth.

But telling himself those things didn't change the truth. .The truth was he fantasized about Elizabeth every time he was inside another woman. The truth was he had a Christmas present hidden inside his jacket, carefully chosen months for her months earlier.

The truth made his stomach roll when she finally opened the door to her large house. "Merry Christmas, Elizabeth." He said smoothly, so charmingly, as he stepped inside her home.
