I live?

So I don't think the party's gonna happen for a long time.

But wait, what party? What happened? Where are you?

OK....the short-short version. Got married, great reception. Moved into condo after interminable delays. Marian's dog insists on crapping and pissing everywhere.
Went on honeymoon in Cancun. Had some fun. Got quite ill, most of vacation wrecked. The tour of Chitchen Itza was good, tour of Mexican hospital not so much.

Came back, got offered a job for a crapload of money more than I made. Turned it down because I hate supporting endusers--it's a long-term-goal big picture thing.
Hurricane hit. Lost cable for a bit, but not power. Next morning frantically ran down to Miami to rescue the chinchillas, who were on the verge of heat stroke. They perked right up in the 60 degree car and made it through OK.

Started studying for my Citrix certification. Most of the way there; just need to take a class and pass the test.
Of course, prior to actually being instructed on the finer points of the new version, I was told to install a farm at the Disaster Recovery site. This wouldn't have been so bad if not for the servers needing an OS upgrade, the several-years-old citrix install already on them that wouldn't uninstall, and the bad login information I was given for the DR SQL server.

On top of that, we had a file server power supply fail in Maine yesterday. And the backups that were supposed to go off nightly....didn't. Ever. Them kicking out the power brick for the backup drive might have something to do with that. Regardless of the cause, management shat a mighty brick--the local GM for that office sending an email to them regarding this and CCing the senior VPs might have provided some intellectual fiber for this.

Fortunately, thanks to the wonders of VPN links and next day air, I've recovered the data off the drives, have it available for those lovely, lovely end users, and repaired the file server for its voyage back. I've also tweaked the backup settings so they'll work properly.

Singed, but triumphant. Bitches.

And as for the party? I've been trying to host a get-together as a housewarming type deal, but due to the various server maintenance nights and the DR citrix implementations, it keeps getting postponed. Aargh.
