Shakira
Opinion:
Shakira is so much better when she does American rock rather than dance or Latin music.
I met her once, sort of.
It was late 1990’s, Fall 1997, I believe. I was dating a girl that had connections. We were at some venue around Universal City Walk (Orlando) for some band’s release party.
Anyway, I go to the bar and this chick is beside me. I get my standard (Midori Sour) and she says, oh that looks so pretty, so I gave it to her and left without a word.
It felt like something out of a Hesse book; it was empowering.
Anyway, later that night, I’m talking with my girl-friend’s boss and he mentions that the woman in question is Shakira and that she’s famous in South America and trying to break into the US market.
So yeah, that’s my Shakira story.
