I just had one of the most fun weekends I've had in a long time.
Friday: Friday night I was really tired from barely sleeping the night before, so I stayed in and finished book two in the Dresden Files series, Fool Moon. I also spent time uploading my website to my new webhost (which took a while because one of my sites is HUGE). Other than that and a nice chat with Kelly, the night was uneventful.
Saturday: Got up way too early for no particular reason, so after diddling on the computer for a while, I headed down to the Culver City/Westchester area to meet a bunch of the Corbin folks at IHOP. We were celebrating the birthdays of my friends Jan and
markbt73, so we all met for pancakes and what not, which was a lot of fun. I hadn't seen these guys in a couple of months (which was my own fault, really) so it was great to see 'em all again. After a VERY filling meal at IHOP, we all drove down to GoKartWorld in Carson.
GoKartWorld has several tracks, like the mega track, the turbo track, and the slick track. After signing release forms and buying tickets, we all went to the mega track, which is their largest track. I hadn't driven GoKarts in a while, but I'd forgotten how much fun it was. After the mega track, we went to the turbo track, which was a ton of fun. We then tried the slick track, which was probably my favorite because it was just so great. Other tracks, you could get separated from the pack and feel all alone, but on the slick track, you're ALWAYS surrounded by EVERYONE else, so it was a blast. We then went to the arcade to play some Dance Dance Revolution, which I hadn't played in a while but found I was still pretty good at it.
You can see pictures of us at GoKartWorld here at the Corbin Crew site. After we were done at GoKartWorld, we headed back up to the valley for dinner at El Torito. This was fun, but they took FOREVER for my order as well as Eric's order, so we were kind of peeved. They also refilled my iced tea with frigging diet coke while I was in the bathroom, which confused and annoyed me. After dinner, I was feeling REALLY exhausted, so I went home and crashed.
Sunday: I headed down to Kelly's place around noon and Kelly, Kristen and Paxton (Kelly's ex's daughter) at Fantastic Sam's, where Kristen was getting a haircut. Kelly was watching Paxton for the weekend, which is why she couldn't join us at GoKartWorld. Anyway, after the haircut, we got lunch at Burger King and went back to Kelly's to eat before going to the movies. When we got back to Kelly's, she gave me a nice gift totally out of the blue...Snakes on a Plane on DVD. Did I mention I have the best girlfriend ever? ;) Anyway, after eating and relaxing for a bit, we headed over to downtown Culver City to see Night at the Museum. Let me tell you, this movie was FRAKING AWESOME. I don't care what the critics are saying, we had a BLAST at this movie. I wanna see it again, to be honest. Kelly called it "the perfect moviegoing experience" and she was right. We all left the movie with big smiles, laughing as we recounted our favorite scenes. This movie was awesome.
So anyway, after we took Paxton back home to her folks, we ran some errands, got dinner and went back to Kelly's place. Since we saw a trailer for the next Fantastic Four movie, Kelly said that we should watch the first one since I hadn't seen it. I really enjoyed it, though the guy who played the Human Torch was kind of a dick. ;) After the movie we hung out for a little while until I went home and continued reading the third book in the Dresden Files series, Grave Peril.
Overall: A totally fantastic weekend from beginning to end. I got to hang out with the corbin crew, ride gokarts, see Kelly and spend plenty of time with her, and see some awesome movies. Life is good. :) I hope y'all had a shiny weekend too. :)
