Kiss me, I voted.

I was number 1840 yesterday in early voting at Pullen Park in Raleigh. I'm so glad I went ahead and got that out of the way...I was really surprised by the number of people there, then again, I didn't know what to expect. I would definitely recommend getting it out of the way NOW as opposed to putting if off and standing in crazy lines on election day. One thing, though...I'm liberal, so essentially I had no problem pretty much following the endorsements of The Independent, and what specifically am pointing out here is that there are a whole slew of "non-partisan" elections on the flip side of the ballot, which is bullshit. In a perfect world. Of COURSE these elections are partisan. So there's the list of candidates with zero info about what they stand for, and you are supposed to just fill in the circles beside their names...by guessing? If you vote straight ticket on the other side, that doesn't cover these other races. So I would encourage anybody to do some research [ candidates who bothered to return The Independent's questionnaires ] before they go, and take a piece of paper with you on which you have written the names of the people you support, otherwise you will be clueless.

Actually, there is a sample NC ballot online (after entering your info it's personalized for your area)...I shoulda looked at this before I went to vote.

I also went and saw "W.", as my fairgoing plans fell through (a former coworker and I traditionally go, actually three of us, but I guess with this work-related cancellation, our little trio is done, since we all have moved on and don't work together anymore) yesterday...I'm going today, though, with others. Anyway, I'm still thinking about the movie. It certainly wasn't the typical Oliver Stone presidentially-themed film. Walking in, I was thinking that this is just too early for a film about this jackass, and now having seen it, I stand by that, although I slightly feel bad for him, in that it's so obvious a part of his shiteousness is based on his upbringing. That mother of his. Well, and daddy. But then that is obliterated when I think of how in the tank this country is. Anyway, it's interesting, and topical, so, seeing it? I think people should.
