I was flipping through my book Design for New Media, and I came across this:

Introduction: the Daleks

There is a race of famous science fiction creatures called the Daleks. (Don't worry if you've never heard of them, neither has my spell checker.) The creator of this evil race was the writer Terry Nation and in interviews he would often be asked how he came up with such a menacing name. The reality was that it just came to him 'out of the blue', but this was such a boring answer and so unsatisfactory to many interviewers that eventually he made up a source of inspiration. He said that he saw it on the spine of one volume of a set of encyclopedias; the first volume covered AAN-DAK and the second DAL-LEK. Everybody was happy.

I love running into Doctor Who fans like that. It always amuses me to no end.

I also have my book for my next class (which I can tell you right now, I'm gonna love), but it was a pain in the ass to get out of the mail box. The front of the mail box has a lip so that the opening is smaller in front than in back. I couldn't get the box my book was in out because of that lip. I had to open the box while it was still in my mailbox, slide the book out, and crush the box to get it to come out. Such a pain in the ass.

But anyway. I'm in a rather pleasant mood. :)
