KISS MY FACE!

Hey everyone, it's been a long long time since I've written here in my LiveJournal, so here it goes!!!!!!!

MUN's working out well. I've only gone part-time this year so far, but this is clearly the right direction for me. I just spent an hour poring over the annual report of a major hotel company: I find all things business totally fascinating, and I wish I'd known this earlier. Of course, had I not meandered into art school for two years, I wouldn't have come to my deeper interest in business so hungrily. I'm doing well in marketing, but I find economics confusing and abstract. In all, though, if I go full-time, three terms a year, I'll be finished my BBA in two years. So, by spring '08 or so I'll be ready to move on.

And where will that be? Probably not in Newfoundland, because I'm really interested in moving around a lot. I'm interested in the west coast (Calgary and Vancouver Island, specifically); Toronto and Montreal hold some interest, Ottawa too...and I'd like to at least visit NYC. I'm very interested in the hotel industry because of its reliability (there will always be hotels), its purpose (people's comfort, rest, and business meetings)...I'm also interested in advertising and publishing, but I'm really interested in doing business management in any field.

As for the shorter term: I am generally happy here in Newfoundland. It's home, my brain turns off here. It is laid-back and predictable here. The climate sucks, but you can chat with almost anyone anywhere in town and the reaction is as friendly as if you knew them. We do have an isolated culture here, but now--unlike my self-destructing stay in Halifax--I can pursue a quality, inexpensive degree while recharging my batteries, before heading off into the big, loud world again.

My beloved girlfriend of almost a year is quite probably moving away to Alberta in a couple of months, which is sad. I fully support her going, because unless she's going to MUN, there's really nothing else to do here as a young person but bounce around between call center jobs, living at home. I'd love to go with her, but I want her to do what's best for her, even if that means reverting to friendship. I love her that much.

I am looking forward to May, when I will be going to a big, fun wedding in Montreal with the lovely Caroline. I'm going to fly up possibly to Ottawa first, to meet her and take a train to Montreal. We're going to spend the weekend together, and we have an exciting itinerary of the aforementioned trip to the city; the wedding itself on Saturday afternoon, then cocktails, the reception, and then a wild night of drinking and dancing well into the night...then, Sunday, Caroline and I will split off to bomb around Montreal together, possibly into Monday if she has that day off from work.

MISCELLANEOUS:
-Who's planning for the bird flu? It might become nothing, but I'm thinking about stocking up on water, tuna, batteries, in case.
-good movies seen in the last several months: 21 Grams (heavy), Cinderella Man (real art), The Constant Gardner (good message expressed gracefully), The Assassination of Richard Nixon (depressing, good), Crash (awesome), Munich (an incredible experience), Brokeback Mountain (cried twice), Walk The Line (good story well-acted), Batman Begins (Batman finally done right), The 40-Year Old Virgin (my biography done right), Four Brothers (fucking awesome), The Pacifier (sweet yet enjoyable), Snatch (heelarious), Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (masterful), Wedding Crashers (witty),
-okay movies seen in the last several months: Narnia (watchable), the latest Harry Potter (decent, better than the first few), The Dukes of Hazzard (had its moments), Fun With Dick And Jane (pretty good; Jim Carrey aging visibly, needs to move into more serious material), Two For The Money (or, Pacino Yells At McConaughey's Sweaty Abs For 120 Minutes),
-bad movies seen in the last several months: Date Movie (avoid it like the plague), Bewitched (disappointing), Melinda and Melinda (and boring), The Brothers Grimm (didn't make it to the end), Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo (fell asleep 1/3 through), Fantastic Four (shit; shallow and totally disappointing)
-jumping rope is a great form of cardio
-I'm addicted to Howard Stern
-and Frank Zappa
-I would confidently call myself an agnostic/atheist now
-I've finally gotten a bit of the bug of finally realizing how much fun drinking/going downtown is, that most people get in grade 11

That's it for now! SPANKS FOR REEDING
