i all a friend of mine is doing a diploma in pyschology and is looking into the effects that ME has in that aspect and what things can be done to help.
She really needs some more people to interview, they need to be aged 18-26 and able to travel to her in London.
There is a bit more about it below, but if anyone can help, please let me know.
I've been interviewed for this and its not that bad, you can have breaks etc. when you want, and she's very understanding.
"I'm currently half-way through an empirical project on ME/CFS for my postgraduate diploma in Psychology.
I don't believe ME is in any way a psychosomatic illness - I am looking at people's experiences of living and dealing with the illness, which is why this is classed as a psychological study - I'm looking at how people's life changes with ME.
If there is anyone aged between 18 and 25 who is able to come for a short interview with me at my university in London in the next few weeks then I'd love to hear from you!
All that an 'interview' will consist of is about a 1 hour chat with me about how your life is. And that's all! Nothing invasive, no tests, just a chat about what you want to talk about.
If you'd like to help then I would love you forever! Unfortunately though, because of the nature of ME, for safety and ethics, my university board has dictated to me that I must carry out all interviews face-to-face, at the university only. I understand that this will exclude those who can't travel, and SAMs, but I will be accounting for this in my write-up.
But I would still love some more of you to help out because this could really make a difference - as far as myself and my supervisor are aware, this is the first study using this method inolving young adults (most studies are of children or the over 30's) - so this could be big and I'm offering the chance to be a part of it!"
So if anyone can help, PLEASE contact me. Hope some of you can help.
