Part Two (you may want to read part one first)

Today’s CNN headline reads:

Bush wants marriage reserved for heterosexuals.

Why the hell are we going on and on about Queer Eye For the Straight Guy???

It seems to me that there is a lot in our future at stake at this very moment. I worry that with over 30 anti-marriage laws on the books that it wouldn’t take too much more to get 2/3rds States ratified around defining marriage as between a man and a woman. I cannot believe I am living in a country in which the rights of the few are tossed aside because of the unfounded prejudices of the many.

And yet, here we are. Bush Jr. involving lawyers to help devise a strategy to limit who can and cannot get married and to place that limit into our Constitution.

So with all of that to think about, I can’t help but to not get riled up (beyond the usual riled up I get) about two dumb television shows.

Instead, I ask those around me what they are willing to do (or not do) about this threat to our civil rights. I realize that marriage may not be our issue, but when the document that rules this entire land may contain anti-gay language, are any of our other issues safe?

I question. I fear.

The B.
