can someone give me a re-cap of what people (that I generally know) are saying about Ashley, the "pillow angel"?

honestly, it creeps the hell out of me. and I am not sure why. I can see legitimate arguments on both sides. it makes me glad I will not be a father, because decisions like that...I'm not sure I could make.

I think there is no great options for Ashley's parents, and this one is better than the alternatives ( ... )

a) and here I thought your boobs were magical and cut into the wind, giving you less resistance.

b) the last sentence pretty much sums it up for me. and I only know a little of what caring for a disabled adult is like. a disable adult with an infant's mind? ghastly to even think of.

a) Ah ha... I did not realize it before, but I have aero boobs!!! I now have a huge advantage (har har) over those flat-chested women!

b) Agreed... thank goodness for love and caring people.

b2) How about caring for a teenager with with an infant's mind and body? Check this out.

I think that's the key, though. You could (in theory) choose to be shorter and lighter and having no boobs. She doesn't have the choice, and she'll never have the capacity to choose. That's the important distinction to make.

My point with that example was more against the argument that because she won't be able to grow up naturally, she is worse off. I was trying to point out that if my parents had done that to me (where I hadn't had a choice), I may have actually been better off in my favorite sport. and financially because I wouldn't have to pay $50 per bra and heck probably wouldn't even need a sports bra, much less a $50 one! Hell, I should start a campaign to make this breast bud removal procedure open to more girls!!!!!!

Anyway, back to reality...

A parent's job is making choices for their child because they are unable to. Every day, parents are making choices that will permanently affect aspects of their child's adulthood.

How many males who have been circumcised had the choice?

Did Ashley get a choice in keeping or refusing her feeding tube?

Sometimes parents make the wrong choices, but they usually try to make the best choices they can. From what I've read, I think her parents made the best choice they could.

I agree...obviously Ashley cannot make these choices. Whether I agree with them or not, I think they're the best choices possible. (And I'm not saying I agree or disagree. I honestly do not know.)
