And banned again two days later...

Wow, it's only a couple days after I wrote "Stem Cell Panic!", about president Obama lifting the eight year old executive order by president Bush barring federal funds for and work by federally funded researchers on Embryonic Stem Cells, and what happens? Inside 48 hours president Obama does a full 180 and Falcon Punches that bold initiative by signing a law that explicitly bans federal funding of any "research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed, discarded, or knowingly subjected to risk of injury or death.".

With considerable less media fan fair I must add.

The provision is the Dickey-Wicker amendment, which is part of the most recent (and 465 page long) appropriations bill for the department of Health and Human Services. What is extra pathetic about this is unlike the previous executive order, Obama cannot simply lift this ban, which requires an act of Congress. Smooth move genius.

Just call him president Flip Flop.

government, world of stupid, politics, obama
