I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving!
Ours was good, for the most part. With the exception of Sean disowning his brother. Sean got tired of the BS. Dylan is slowly going downhill, drinking a lot, possibly drugs, doesn't spend time with his son unless someone nags him, and any conversation with his mom seems to be either fighting or wanting something. They were sitting in the living room and Sean tried to start a conversation, instead of just sitting there in silence staring at the TV. Dylan blew up, thinking it was a "talking to", and stormed out. He came back later after picking up Hayden (shock that he did that), which means there really wasn't much talking. When we weren't at the table, Dylan sat on the couch playing on his phone, and ignoring the rest of us. So Sean said he was done, and has relegated Dylan to non-existance.
Hey, what's a holiday without family drama, right?
I was excited about Thanksgiving. I haven't had a T-day off in over 10 years. I always worked them to make sure I could get Christmas off. My new job closes for holidays, so no more worries there. I actually got to watch the parade, and I helped make dinner! And got a few requisite burns. Whoops. We couldn't fit the ham in the oven with the turkey, so I had the idea of cooking it on the grill, just like in the oven. Even on low, the liquid in the bottom of the pan boiled and burned, but the ham was still tasty.
We brought Hayden home with us, so the MIL could do some Black Friday shopping. He had a blast. I made homemade waffles for breakfast (I don't recall Dad using stiffly beaten eggs, but it's the recipe he said he uses), which Hayden thought were the best ever. They played, he got to play on the playstation, and when Kelen napped, we painted ornaments. He did NOT want to go back to the MIL's last night. The poor kid is starving for fun and attention. He's been staying at the MIL's a lot because he does not want to go home. He's never made Christmas cookies before, so we're going to do that some weekend. I know he can't eat a lot with his diabetes, but it's the decorating that's the fun part.
Kelen is growing, growing, growing. Every day he learns a new word, and his favorite phrase is "What's that?" MIL and I took him to a local Christmas parade last weekend. He seemed to like it, until the semi trucks came. They apparently use the semi cabs to pull the floats, and some of the jackasses blew their horns. Scared the crap out of him, and one of the trucks even hurt our ears. It didn't help that the idiot sitting next to us, who apparently knew a lot of people in the parade, was egging the trucks on. I think he'll do better next year.
