A brief primer on True Blood characters
I am assuming we are all familiar with the scope of QAF characters so I won't go into that. But for those of you who do not watch True Blood, or even for those who do, here is a brief update on the True Blood characters who may wander into this story. I know some are missing Justin right now, but please be patient. He will be in it in a big way, but right now I am laying a necessary predicate.
For True Blood fans, the timing of this would be season one. Eric and Sookie have a little lust going on but have not gotten together. All main characters are still alive, so to speak. All of that Authority crap has not gone down. Tara is not yet a vampire. ETC
Now, the characters:
Eric and Pam: Eric Northman is a vampire who is over 1000 years old. He was a Viking in Sweden and his whole family was wiped out by Russell Edgington. Eric was the only survivor and has pledged revenge on Russell but because Russell is older and therefore more powerful, Eric has to choose his moment carefully. He is the owner of Fangtasia and is the sherriff of District 5 in Louisiana, keeping peace among the vampires. Pam is his only progeny, he turned her in the early part of the 20th century when she cut her wrists and was either going to die or be turned. They love each other but not in a romantic way.
Sookie and Bill: Sookie Stackhouse is a human/fairy. She is a waitress and the love interest of Bill Compton who is a vampire who was turned right after the Civil War. He is the brooding, guilty type who tries to avoid feeding on humans. He falls in love with Sookie and they have a relationship, although there is an attraction between Sookie and Eric that is not consumated. As Bill informed Sookie, everyone notices Eric.
Russell Edgington: Russell is the oldest vampire we meet thus far. He killed Eric's family but spared Eric, for reasons unclear. He used his "pet" werewolves to do the deed. He stole the Viking crown of Eric's deceased father. He is the most outwardly gay character in the show and at this point has a long term younger boyfriend named Talbot. Russell is the King of Louisiana, meaning he rules that area, and he and Talbot live in a mansion in Eric's town. Age confers power in this world, the older a vampire you are, the more powerful you are and Russell is powerful and ruthless but funny. Unlike Bill and Eric, he hates humans and considers them food.
Godric: Godric is the young looking but very old vampire who turned Eric. He does not live in Louisiana and comes in and out of Eric's life. He looks to be about the age of Justin, but he is ancient and for a vampire very gentle. He found Eric dying on the battlefield when Eric was a Viking and turned him. They were together for hundreds of years and then Eric went out on his own. But he loves Godric above all, in that maker/progeny bond that is unbreakable. Godric is probably 2000 years old. He was once an evil vampire, but over time became benevolent. At this point, he is Sheriff of District 9 in Dallas, Texas. Godric tried to teach Eric right from wrong but Eric is a strong warrior, so only some of it took. (For those who follow Gale, Alan Hyde, who plays Godric, was at the Italian convention with Gale. He is Danish.)
Sam Merlotte: Sam is a mostly human shapeshifter who owns the bar, Merlotte's, where Sookie works and people hang.
Jason: Jason Stackhouse is Sookie's brother and while he has no fairy powers, he is beautiful but pretty dumb. He is a stud with all the ladies in town, but he is sweet despite his good ol boy dumbness. He is a deputy sheriff (human kind) in Bon Temps, Louisiana where they all live.
Tara and Lafayette: Tara Thornton is Sookie's best friend from school days. She is a very feisty black woman, very strong. Her cousin Layfayette Reynolds is a makeup wearing, very gay human fry cook at Merlotte's. He is outrageous and funny and is selling V for Eric. V is vampire blood which is highly addictive to humans and makes them feel invincible and high, a little like meth. His relationship with Eric is pretty scary. Eric almost killed Lafayette once over the drug sales. He is terrified of Eric.
That's pretty much the only ones you will see in this story.
