No flooding to stop them from coming to CT this time :)
Tonight (well, last night actually) we got to see The Whatnot for the first time @ the Main Pub in Manchester, CT. On hand for the festivities were
orangey,
shinany,
ratgrl, and
altoviola. With this many BNL folks around I half expected the band to walk in.
We were at the closest table. The band was cool with taping, so I clipped my mic to one of the table-top stand-up beer menu thingies. Now here's the part where I feel like an ass.....I downloaded a couple of their shows from www.archive.org and they were about an hour each so I only brought ONE minidisc. Well, they ended up playing 3 sets of almost an hour each. I have set 1 & 1/2 of set 2 and that's all. The good news is that it sounds like it turned out really nice. I'll get it converted ASAP & also get a copy to the band.
They were a great bunch of guys and hung out before the show and inbetween sets. We bought their CD and had the band autograph it. Stacy also got a setlist.
We were impressed by their original music and enjoyed covers from Guster (Demons), DMB (Best of What's Around), A-ha (Take On Me), Violent Femmes (Blister in the Sun)& NEIL DIAMOND (Sweet Caroline). We wish these guys all the success in the world and hope they come back around here soon.
