Does anyone else suffer from migraines?
Since I was first diagnosed a year and a half ago, I average one every 6-8 weeks. They used to last for 3-4 days, but recent trends have become disturbing. The last one I had (before now) was at the end of March and lasted for TEN DAYS. The doctor said that in some cases they can last for a couple weeks. As I type this now, I am in DAY ELEVEN! I missed 1 day of work and have put in a few short days during this span. I thought things were getting better a few days ago and tried to ween myself off of the meds.....big mistake.
---(RX talk now)---
Last year, I was first prescribed Imitrex. It seemed to be the most effective med, but it put me to sleep and I couldn't take it at work (plus insurance only pays for 9 pills per month..and my cost is still $35 for those few). My pharmacist suggested Fioricet and I got my doctor to prescribe it. It didn't work as well, but made work tolerable.
Last time around the Imitrex was useless, so my neurologist gave me some Zomig samples. They worked OK, but the Fioricet was the hero last time.
This time around the Fioricet is working pretty well, but I have to take it every 4 hours or else I'm miserable (pain behind the eyes, pain on the back of my neck, and my joints ache).
---(end RX talk)---
I still have not been able to identify my "trigger."
For anyone else who suffers, what suggestions do you have to help relieve the pain, short of shutting yourself in a dark, silent room? I've also tried a heating pad on the back of my neck, and long showers with burning hot water on the same area.
Also, any suggestions for meds that I could mention to my doctor?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

{I'll have a proper update next week, since we have a couple things planned for our 5th Anniversary weekend coming up in a few days}
