This was quite an exciting weekend. This Saturday was the annual meeting of my high school's alumni association, and my 5th year high school reunion. The festivities started Friday night at an Irish pub called Fado in downtown Chicago. It was a lot of fun - the people organizing the get together figured that maybe 30-40 people would show up for the pre-reunion party. We ended up with 57. :) That was a few too many people crammed into the small area we were in, but we made due. It was good to see people that I haven't seen since graduation. Unfortunately I had to leave before the party was over so I could catch the train back to the suburbs. I still have not actually driven into Chicago, thank goodness for public transportation. :)
On Saturday was the reunion itself. Before that, though, was the annual meeting of the Alumni Association. I am happy to say that in the sole race with more than one candidate, I won the election to become the vice president of the Association. And I even have a task already - work with people to update
the website. After the meeting, some of our teachers came back for a tea, and people broke up into groups to talk. After that was the reunion itself - many of the people had been at Fado the night before, but there were several who just came to the actual reunion. The highlight of the evening had to be when we showed our senior video that had been made at the end of our senior year in 1996. It was great to see ourselves from five years ago. (Or even before; in my case, the only picture of me that made it into the video was from sophomore year in 1993. :) )
All in all, a good time seemed to be had by all. I hope that I catch up with some people again before our 10 year reunion. :)
