Life is a strange beasty. It throws at you things which can make you feel confident one minute, then like shite the next. Today, in my last day helping out my bro's workplace, someone there said something like "are you going to enjoy the rest of your school holidays?" Now i'm 23, taller than my older brother and from what i can tell, not at all looking like i'm at the school going age. That comment really threw me, so much that i started mumbling to myself and got weird looks from the bloke who said it. How the heck am i meant to take a comment like that? I'm not sure whether to be glad i look young or wonder how i can change my looks so i'm more confident and junk. Actually definitely the later. If it was a choice betweem looking young or looking good and as old as i am (what would a generic 23 year old male look like?), then i'd choose the later.
In other thoughts, this bbc news story talks about Archimedes (famous maths bloke) and some hidden writings from him. Fair enough, but there is one thing i'm not sure about in the article. Mr Will Noel decides to say "Archimedes was like no one before him..." but i don't get this. Yes, sure he was a brainy geezer, but am i the only person who thinks it is unlikely he actually discovered/developed all of the entire maths system thing himself? What i mean is isn't he being credited for a heck of a lot more than he is actually likely to have achieved? I am very sure there were people who had similar ideas to archimedes, just like there were people who had similar ideas for computers to bill gates when they were merely money calculators or trajectory calculators. Not to take away credit where it's due, but archimedes couldn't be the father of maths when so much would have come from different cultures which are now sadly gone. Basically, he is the only name to look up to, but we really should be acknowledging the fact that he wouldn't have been the creator of all maths. Give credit where credit is due. While he did have some interesting ideas, most of them were probably an amalgamation of others already out there, and perhaps some people did stick two and two together, but he got rid of the opposition somehow. Meh, i'm babbling and i dont really care about this stuff anyway.
On a more interesting tangent, i've got money to spend and i'm being tempted to a sony psp again. However i've got my car's MOT and my mum's birthday coming up on the same day. August sucks.
