A siren of the times

Why must some drivers be so inconsiderate? i was going to bromley today for mothers day shopping, and got to some traffic lights where i was second in the line. Two police cars came up (one unmarked so it must have been something serious) with sirens blaring and horns beeping but no-one gave way. I beeped the woman infront of me but she just creeped forward a bit, probably till her wheels were in line of the stop line. Here's my problem, all the cars in the area can hear the sirens (unless the drivers are hearing impaired in which case i'd expect those people to be looking more) and so would be looking out for any movements in traffic when there shouldn't be in normal circumstances. Secondly does anyone really think they'll get in trouble for going through a red light so that emergency vehicles heading for a call can get through? I mean as long as you don't cause a crash, and if everyone is paying attention then you should be fine. At the end of the day it could mean the difference between life and death for some people.

And then the 320 (i think) went through a red light at a pedestrian crossing, where someone could have been killed because of his idiocy. Plus there was another idiot in the car park who wouldn't get out of my way when i was trying to reverse into a space. I dont know what it is with drivers today, or even why these annoyed me so much. It never normally gets under my skin like it has today. All wasn't lost though, i think i found a book my mum might like, but im yet to find her main mothers day pressie, although i've got a week. I realised today that these days can be useful for getting stuff for mums (and dads for fathers day) which you might forget about when their birthday or christmas comes along. Useful but expensive, and cards still suck for all occasions.
