I, of the storm... Key West meets Fay

Aug 18, 2008 21:29

Tropical storm Fay was a big let down peeps... If you watched the News, they painted this storm as this sensational event--that it  was not.
In the middle of the really bad point, I headed down town, in my trusty rain coat and toured Duval street. I Jumped in front of Camera men and ended up on a few different TV stations as 4 different camera crews filmed the same area. Thats how they do it. Camera crews come to Key West and Take up residence at the La Concia hotel. And they film live blurbs right from that spot and attempt to make it all look dangerous--it aint.

I roamed the street amongst 60 mile an hour gusts, smiling and waving at locals, who in turn, waved and smiled back. I then went to my favorite bar--they gave me free Mojito Bacardi bottles and I filled my pockets with them and moved on. I finally came to the end of Duval and watched the 4 foot waves crash over the peer and drank my Mojitos. I had a really great time.

No one in key west took this seriously... It was a  good time and not in any way dangerous.

I then went out to Higgs Beach and took photos of the boys and girls surfing. There is the Aids Memorial Pier that goes way out in the water. I went out to the end and watched kids play as waves crashed down on them.

Really a good day...

I will post pics shortly...
