(no subject)
I feel so....bleeeeh. It's one of those days.
Otherwise...this weekend was a lot of fun. Peter had his brithday party in this amazing 6000 sq. foot apartment on the hudson...It was such a great place, and totally unexpected! apparently he's friends with the apprentice to this (successful) commercial photographer and he apprentice is housesitting and (I think unbeknownst to the photographer) said he could have his party there. I hope no real damage was done and the apprentice didn't screw himself, but I don't really know. Saw lots of people I hadn't seen in ages there - Gerrick, Emily...it was cool!
Sunday night I looked out my window and saw a group of 8 or 9 hipsters standing outside my building...Only, after more observation, they turned out to be deaf hipsters...It was really interesting to watch them talk to each other...they were so animated with their signing and hand gestures...It was really very cool. I wish I knew what they were talking about. they would sign on each others hands and chests occasionly and they kept spitting something onto the street. maybe they were eating nuts or something I don't really know. But it was all very cool to see. Makes me want to learn sign language. I wonder how on a day to day basis they communicate with people? Most people don't know sign language, so I wonder how they get by at work, in restaurants etc...A few looked like they had handheld devices that maybe the communicate via. But it is an interesting though - how to communicate in this world without speaking?
