discovery!
This morning I woke up just in time to see the Discovery land. It was pretty amazing to see it zooming through the atmosphere, just a tiny dot at first, and then you could make out the sillhouette of a spaceship ... I don't understand how they land these things...they're moving so fast and somehow they are able to slow down fast enough not to damage the spacecraft or even the runway (much)...well the astronauts and their families must be elated and breathing such a sigh of relief. I'm sure the last few minutes there were unbearable...I wonder if they dare think 'what if?'. But it must be totally worth it - it would be so exciting and amazing to see earth (and other things) from above...
I guess it will cost NASA a million dollars to strap the space shuttle onto a 747 and fly it across the country back to florida...pretty amazing that they an do that huh? (not the money, the mating it to a plane!). It will take a week...
