These words are razors to my wounded heart.

I hate Hannibal Rising. True, I haven't seen it yet (and probably won't), but it insults me. Hannibal Lecter was terrifying in The Silence of the Lambs, and he was behind a wall of some sort for almost the entire film. He just messed with your mind! And the more we've seen of him in the subsequent films has perverted the character. Yes, I know ( Read more... )

Dude, did you siphon that out of my brain? Because I said the exact same thing not a week ago.

Not to mention, I think Harris is a terrible writer. I saw Silence of the Lambs a few years after it came out - loved it, and I tried reading the book in high school. I thought it was garbage. It was so slow and boring that I couldn't even finish it. What a waste. And I heard Hannibal was even worse.

Leave Lecter alone! It really gets my goat that "Hannibal Rising" was optioned as a movie BEFORE THE GUY STARTED THE BOOK. That's just...messed up.

I know! And a point I forgot to make earlier: it also upsets me that they are giving a reason for Hannibal's actions. I may be wrong, but the previews make this look like a revenge story, and I don't want to have sympathy for a killer. This goes against everything I stand for, but I want him to be more one-dimensional.

It goes back to the same tired cliche beginning of lots of psychopaths/sociopaths - bad childhood. LAME-O.

So lame.

From now on I'm boycotting all prequel and 'origin of' movies. I'm as big a fan of money as the next guy, but these disgust me.
