Dear diary,
Off days are sooo cool! Everyone keeps saying eventually I won't hate baseball anymore but I don't think that's true because every day that we don't have to play is like, the happiest day of my life. Well, no one on my team says that about me getting over the baseball hatred because they all hate it too. Except Noah because he can do no wrong right now as far as baseball goes. And as far as everything goes, really.
So today I went out with Omar for lunch and you can really tell how much this city also hates baseball. The waiter at the restaurant was like, "Hey you're Omar Vizquel and Brett Tomko!" and we were like, "Yeah, we are!" and then he just started talking about how he's going to the 49ers preseason game tomorrow and asked if we could get Alex Smith's autograph for him. Hmm.
Then Omar said he wanted to go to the Metreon to play Dance Dance Revolution so I went even though it sounded boring, but it totally wasn't boring! We played for hours! It was a good workout and the best part was that it didn't involve baseball at all! So while I was playing I tried to get some kind of injury so that I could be mentioned in one of those wacky injury articles they always have whenever someone injures themselves carrying deer meat or waking up from a nightmare about spiders, all:
Brett Tomko - Broke leg while beating Omar Vizquel at Dance Dance Revolution.
That'd be SO GREAT because then: 1) I wouldn't have to pitch any more this year so I wouldn't lose 20 games, 2) I could finally get my Hoveround, and 3) I'd live in infamy! Just like that guy who cut himself with a hunting knife he got as a gift and had to miss the playoffs. Oh wait, wasn't that Mikey?
Anyway diary, I didn't hurt myself, OF COURSE. Omar said he was tired and wanted to go home. He must be really depressed if even DDR didn't cheer him up. When I got back home Noah was here trying to fix the toaster because SOMEONE broke it, but it was all in pieces, a total lost cause. That sucked because I was really craving some toast. So we ordered some fancy new toaster from the Home Shopping Network and Julia went to bed. So then we went out for some drinks with Nieks, Munt and Henny, and Linden invited himself along too. Man, I felt old. Anyway, it turns out once you get some drinks in Todd he isn't such a jerk. In fact, he starts to get kind of sweet and affectionate, to the point that he probably made a certain person a little uncomfortable. Haha! It was a pretty low-key night overall. Life sure is great on days when I don't have all of the life drained out of me by stupid baseball. I should go, the night is young!
Love,
Brett
