I read the book a while ago now (and in french), so I might have forgotten some details, but in general I abslolutely loved the book and it made me fall in love with Austen's work ! I read it on the day I left for London, back in September last year, while stuck at the train station for an entire afternoon and it has remained my favourite Jane Austen book.
I liked Elizabeth, I think she's a very positive and interesting character. Some would think she's not very smart for jumping to conclusions about Darcy, but I think she had reasons to believe so. About Mr Darcy, well, he's kind of perfect ! I like the way Austen wrote the storyline between Elizabeth and Darcy : at the beginning you hate Darcy exactly like Elizabeth does (and honestly what he said about Elizabeth and her family is quite revolting), but then you gradually grow to like him, just like her, and you realize he's not that arrogant after all.
I think the lesson of this book is interesting : one need to be careful on judging other people, because the way they act and what we may hear about them may be entirely false.
Some quotes :
"Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us."
"In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you."
(this quote makes my romantic little heart bounce each time)
