ok, in the past I have had the most amazing and yummy squash soup in restaurants a few times. And I keep trying to make squash soup at home. No matter what recipe I try it always tastes like tasteless baby food.
So I was at farmhouse_ghosts house this past weekend and I found another recipe in a magazine. I brought it home and made it last night. It is still tasteless.... I am the so frustrated! At least this time I got the right consistency and it is "edible" but Mr. Hair will never eat it.
the recipe called for acorn squash, garlic, chicken stock, cayenne pepper, tablespoon of olive oil. I used generic chicken stock and I didn't have cayenne pepper so i used white pepper. could either one of those things be the problem? I added some salt and that seemed to help.
anyone have any ideas to accentuate this soup? I have about 2 quarts of this stuff so I'm stuck eating it. what about adding milk or butter?
On the other hand, i also made homemade beef stock so i can make beef stew tomorrow and that turned out great! I also made another batch of corn chowder. It's relatively easy to make, cheap to make, and tasty. Last few days have been soup making for the next few weeks, so it's all done and out of the way ready in the fridge and freezer.
