I haven't even started unpacking or laundry. I'm trying to wrestle my kitchen and the rest of my house back from the point of messy disaster. See I left it in a mess and brother-in-law didn't help the situation over the last two weeks.
I have spent 2 days working on the kitchen and It's almost clean. I mean a top-to-bottom super cleaning. The once-a-year cleaning that I do after pennsic every year. You know, the kind where you take everything from it's place and clean it from top to bottom.
Guys - there was unidentifiable stuff spackled to the counters, the stove, even the sink. I don't know what the heck my BIL did, but he didn't clean up a single spill for 2 weeks. And the floor is STICKY. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
counters and cabinets washed - done
sink - done
endless loads of dishes - done
stove - done
appliances - all done except microwave and toaster oven
Today I cleaned out the refrigerator. It's my yearly routine to take everything out and clean it from top to bottom after I get home from Pennsic. This year, not too much bad food because I refused to buy groceries for the 3 weeks leading up to Pennsic. But it was dirty. Especially with 2 boys living here now and a girlfriend visiting all the time. It is now very clean and looking very empty. How do we end up with no food but 30 different kinds of condiments??? The biggest surprise - an unopened container of cocktail sauce that expired in 2005 in the back. Don't know how I missed that the past few years????
have you ever had a pantry that was full of stuff but no food to eat???? I'm there right now. And with our money restrictions I've decided that tomorrow I'm cleaning out the pantry and all the errant crap that's in there is going on the counter and it's being eaten somehow before we buy new food. All those impulse buys Mr. Hair picks up when he goes shopping, like potatoes au gratin, pasta dishes, and a case of gravy must somehow be made into edible food. Tonight we had "thanksgiving in August". I cooked frozen turkey meatballs with a jar of mushroom gravy, and made stove top chicken stuffing, and rice. AND I even found a can of cranberry sauce in the pantry too! lol So tomorrow Mr. Hair is having the leftovers as a Slago sandwich for lunch. Dinner is going to be potatoes au gratin, frozen veggies, skirt steak and rice. From there I don't know where I'm going, but the food must go. I still have two more boxes of stove top chicken stuffing and no chicken in sight to make it with. I do have more turkey meatballs, so we might have a repeat meal in a few days
canned gravy - yuck. I don't know what possessed him??????
And I still haven't gotten to clean the sticky floor yet. Tomorrow, tomorrow...
