For those of you unaware of how bad I am with directions I thought I would give you some insight.
Last night I try to make my way over to Loren's apartment over in Grand Haven, since everyone's already over there. Now I've been over there once before, but I've never driven there myself. So I hop in my car and head over there. Moving ahead, it's about an hour into my drive and I start thinking that I'm going the wrong way. Part of me knows I'm going the wrong way, yet there's still a little part of me that has a little tiny bit of hope that I'm almost to the exit I want. Another half hour later I figure I should pull over and ask for directions. I pull into this little gas station and take a look at the map they have up and realize I've gone about three times further north than I was supposed to. As it turns out I end up a little west of Ludington in fricken Reed City.
After much deliberation and cursing I decide it would probably be best if I head back south. I hop back into my car and do just that. About another hour later I end up at the next junction to go west to Loren's, east back home, or take the Kalamazoo way and go throw downtown or something. I decide to just screw it and go back home since I'm practically home already and it's getting late anyways. So I call up my parents to see what junction to take. They tell me to go east. I go the wrong way and end up going through downtown. I'm still on the phone with my parents at this time and they just tell me to keep going until I get to the 68th st exit and take a left to go home. Sounds easy enough, right? So I just keep a look out for that exit and I see a sign saying it's a mile ahead. It's at this point that I think it would be a good idea to call up my friends and tell them I'm not coming. Well I guess that distracted me or something cause I end up missing that exit too and have to get off at 76th st.
From there I had no problem getting home. So in total I wasted about three hours on the road and probably $10 to $15 on gas. On the bright side, I got home just in time to catch Conan O'Brien.
For those of you unfamiliar with Michigan roadways let me give you a visual of what I did. The black line is what I did, the green line is what I should've done.
On a completely unrelated note, let me share what's going on this summer since it's been almost forever since I've updated. I am now working at Foremost Insurance full time working on a computer all day typing in numbers. It's as boring as it gets, but it pays almost three dollars more than what I was getting at Meijer. Speaking of which, I finally quit Meijer after three and a half years of torment and ridicule. Three more working days and I am done there forever.
