Around the World in 80 Days-Just a few days ago, I watched it, though I've yet to own it. Well, it wasn't nearly as bad as I was dreading. actually, I had some fun with it. I was afraid Jackie wouldn't have any fight scenes, but he did, and some of them were pretty good. he even gets joined by Sammo hung at one point. Arnold Schwarzenegger also shows up for a pretty funny scene. It might not be the best work of anyone involved, but it's still a fun, goofy little movie.
Shanghai Knights-Wow, watching this for the first time since it came out in theaters, I was surprised to find that I really did not remember a single thing except for the Jack the Ripper scene and the fact that, at the end, you find out one of the main characters is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Well, as was expected, this film doesn't quite live up to its predecessor, Shanghai Noon. There is some fun to be had here and there, but it's not that good a movie (nor is it necessarily bad). I was a bit disappointed in the scene that I was really excited about, the fight scene between Jackie Chan and Donnie Yen. However, the fight was way too short, and Jackie didn't really look too good in it. I have to wonder how much of Donnie's work was cgi/wire enhanced, and how much of it was really him. Either way, he was rather impressive. Also, Fann Wong, playing Jackie's sister, is quite great. She's gorgeous, sexy in a few scenes, has a great presence, and can also kick some ass. Once again, this filme might not be the best of anyone involved's career, and, if you decided to pass it up, you probably aren't missing much, but if you decide to watch it, between moments where you'll roll your eyes, you just might enjoy yourself here and there.
28. Wheels on Meals-Wow, what a disappointment. I was so excited to finally see this movie, as I thought it looked awesome but, well, it kind of sucks. It's a slapstick comedy that is pretty much just stupid all the time and never funny. There are a few action scenes here and there, but they are way too short, and usually rather unimpressive. The fight scene between Jackie Chan and Benny the Jet at the end is alright, but nothing too special. Man, this is the first Sammo Hung directed movie starring Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao that I've seen, and there are a bunch more to go. I'm scared. 29. Dragons Forever-Well, here's another Sammo Hung directed film starring Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao and it is a million times better than Wheels on Meals! This film is still silly, but it's actually funny, entertaining all the way through (unlike the boring Wheels on Meals), has a LOT of great action (including another Jackie Chan vs. Benny the Jet fight), and is a cute little movie that actually had me smiling almost all the way through. I really enjoyed this one.
