Just got a Christmas card from the bank (lucky me). Views of Switzerland (how original), but with proverbs from around the world. On the accompanying card, it says:

"Suis le conseil de celui qui te fait pleurer, et non de celui qui te fait rire". Meaning, "Follow the advice of he who makes you weep, not that of he who makes you laugh" (Arab proverb).

Not daft, these Arabs. n

January has "Believe, if you will, that moutains have moved, but never believe that men can change their character" (Persian).

November: "If you close the door on every mistake, the truth will remain outside" (Rabindranath Tagore, whoever he may be).

I like this calendar.
