Because I'm "shallow" and "immature" LOL

There was a discussion today in dark_christian concerning an article posted on a church website. The article talked about blogging - the dangers of it, and whether it is appropriate or even Godly to keep a blog. I generally agreed with them about the dangers (posting too much personal info, exposing oneself to cyberstalkers, etc...), which IMO can be avoided by ( Read more... )

I'm in total agreement with you, Bren. :)

Sometimes getting stuff out in your journal is like therapy...and getting comments from people is so helpful and encouraging. Some of you guys have known me for several years and know me better than people in real life do.

And I don't post about mundane things because I think I'm so important or whatever...but those little things make up my life, and I like to be able to look back and remember what I did.

Same here. Honestly, if it weren't for my LJ friends I think I'd be locked up in an asylum by now, LOL. There are just some things I'm more comfortable discussing on here than around my real-life friends, because they don't always understand, ya know?

But I know I have friends who do care, and sometimes their comments to me are a great comfort, or make me see that I'm not the only one who's dealing with such problems.

I hope mine have been among those, I've been following your story for a while now and I try to help with empowering encouragement when I can. :)

I'm with you, I don't think it's necessarily wrong to post in a blog when it helps to say things that need to be said, or when it helps to connect with friends. I think that whole "more important/less important" thing is beside the point .. what you write is important, and don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. If it means something to you, it's important and has value, and whether I respond or not, I read what you write and take it to heart .. :)

I value everyone's comments on here. :) Even if it's just an online hug or something to let me know that they understand my frustration, means a lot to me. And while I do appreciate my real-life friends, sometimes I just don't feel they really understand. Hence, my online babblings, LOL.

Gaaa.

It's worrisome when a church takes that much interest in what a person does in their personal life. Blogging can be good, or it can be bad.

Exactly my point. It's all a matter of being careful of how much personal stuff you reveal and who you choose to trust with that info. And of course, thinking before you post! ;)
