(no subject)
i played a couple songs at the student songwriter competition for kerrville folk festival last night, and to my ultimate shock, i won. ... ....?? i dont completely understand why i won, but, you know, i'm pretty excited about it. i think my compensation is i get to play on the small stage at the festival, but i'm not too sure yet, i have to email this guy about it.
i guess i just thought i'd share that. i'm gonna go ahead and make the claim that this is the first time i've won something that i feel is a reward of some kind - like i could call it an "acheivement". compared to the various honor societies that accept you just because you had a decent gpa. i mean, 'yay, you devote too much of your time on things that don't matter much to you (grades) - here's an award!'
that makes me feel more lame than anything.
i won a costume competition once for my androgenous/mulleted/perverted mechanic character...but the judges were my boyfriend and a couple of my closest friends.....regardless it was a pretty good costume. . . i take that back, i'm pretty proud of that one too.....
