I've got chickens!!
Yep its true! They arrived yesterday. I am so excited, and they are lovely birds! They are Rhode Island Red, Black Rock crosses. Which means that they have red feathers on their necks and are black elsewhere, but not just black - their feathers have a cool green or purple sheen to them depending on the light! Who would have thought that they could be such attractive birds. WHat is funny is the way that Tibault watches them. He is absolutely fascinated. ANd they are so not bothered about him. He got too close to their run door today and Rhody (she has more red on her face) charged at him and he ran halfway across the yard!. HEehee, scardey cat!
So they are called Rhody and Babs - no eggs yet though. They arent quite old enough to lay but should be starting in the next few weeks. Long enough for me to figure out everything I need to know about dealing with them. But it doesnt seem to be too difficult, they actually seem pretty friendly for birds.
I am going to post some pics on facebook soon, and begin egg watch!!
