Eng-a-land!

So if you saw my last post, you may have wondered what I was doing in London. I was taking advantage of a couple of left-over annual leave from last year, as well as some flexitime, to cheer on our Socceroos in their game against Denmark at a chilly Loftus Road stadium. The result was not as good as it could have been (their first loss at their London "home away from home"), but we were missing key players, had little preparation time after the weekend's league games, and had two "goals" disallowed. A friend saw me in a crowd shot on channel 9 news, and I found myself on a video on YouTube. The legendary Jimmy Barnes sang the national anthem, but I can't say I really heard him.

I also checked out the home of the Beatles in Liverpool, saw the quaint town of Chester, and got some culture in the form of the Royal Shakespeare Company's Antony and Cleopatra, starring Patrick Stewart.
