Everybody is getting married

So many young marriages, why?

My friend Jon is engaged to the girl he's been seeing, but they haven't been together long, and she's 17! Neither of them are mature enough to be married, and he doesn't have a job, or a house, he can barely afford the few expenses he has.

My ex (who is barely 18) is getting married in February and she hasn't even been engaged a year. It makes me think one of two things. One, she got pregnant, two, she's having sex with the guy and feels guilty, so she wants to speed things up to justify it to herself.

For her sake, I hope neither is true. But then, I did correctly guess all the events that have happend with her and her sister thus far.

Anyway, what is wrong with people? I have said for years I'm not getting married until I can support myself and a family and I'm at least 23.

Now, my ex knows I think her marrying young is a bad idea, I've told her as much. My friend Jon does not know that I think it's a bad idea, and I don't plan on telling him.

Again, what the hell is wrong with people? Are you marrying young because you want to have sex? You can't wait until you're mature? If you're really in love, it won't matter if you wait a couple years to get married, and if you can't stick it out, better to know now than after you're married.
