Revelation Time

Gentle reader,

As good as a stroke of lightning. Or maybe winning the lottery. Well.

You will know from your painstaking examination and deep memorization of my poor writings some of my feelings regarding my dear wife. Mostly, they boil down to WTF!?

But, courtesy of a class in business communication, with the first unit on how to get along with different Kiersey or Meyer's-Briggs type personalities, I now think, no, know I am as close to understanding her as I need to be. (he said knocking on the wood of his head...)

I'm not going to bore you with a long explanation of said types. Instead, I test as an 'ENFP' Idealist Champion, or sometimes as an INFP, Idealist Healer. The labels adequately describe the first layer of how I approach the world. Fine. My wife tests as an ISFJ, a 'Guardian Protector', and for those of you who know her less than intimately, will realize this is a pretty close description. The problem, at least regarding categorization like this go, is that when she is under stress, or feels completely safe, she is actually an ISFP, an Artisan Composer. And the behavior of the two types is radically different.

For me, I tend to look at people as relatively predictable, and I'm usually right. Not so with the lovely wife. She's not, and likes it that way. That's why it's taken me so long to figure out her patterns. And, the behavior of an ISFP is not precisely random, but it certainly is unpredictable. That means I've been trying to work with her on an unnatural wavelength. For 20+ years. No wonder we haven't gotten along well.

Guess it's time to change. At least how I work with her.
