in you're home using you're stuff

- Remains of the Day was a terrific book, where a man narrates the 200-page realization that he's wasted his life -- like a quieter About Schmidt. Salman Rushdie said it was cruel on the back cover, but I thought it was completely compassionate.

- I am undecided on After the Wedding. I am a sucker for melodrama, but the movie's international elements are in a league with Babel. Probably the character should have been a priest in the country, instead of being a relief worker in India.

- DiG! is the best thing I've seen since May. I love how documentaries never have easy answers.
