30 Day Shipping Meme: Day 4 - The Pairings with the most/least chemistry

The pairing with the most chemistry: Goldie O’Gilt and Scrooge McDuck

Their back story is one of the highlights of the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck book (I'd go on and on about it, but's its really something you need to see for yourself). They are both such tremendous badasses and their interactions together are great. Sadly, the fact that they’re both so tough and stubborn keeps them from just coming out and admitting they love each other. But luckily, one episode of Ducktales gives Goldie and Scrooge a break by changing their reunion story so it has a happier ending.

In the comic, Scrooge lets his old gold claim (which still has a HUGE cache of gold inside it) get turned over to Goldie by convincing her, Donald, and his nephews that he forgot to renew his claim. And since not renewing the claim by a certain date meant that whoever was squatting on the land got to take it, it went to Goldie automatically. Scrooge appears to be angry about losing the claim to her and neither Donald, the nephews, Goldie, nor the audience is ever told if Scrooge let it go to Goldie on purpose or not (though it's pretty obvious that he did).
In the Ducktales adaptation of the story, he simply tells Goldie that he wants her to have the land and the gold and gives it to her (which is pretty out of character for a greedy old coot like Scrooge!). And then this happens…..

You see!! They're so bad ass they make out while sitting on a BEAR!!

The Pairing with the least chemistry: Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley:

Before you ask, I want to let you know that I’m NOT a bitter Harry/Hermione or Harry/Luna shipper. I just don’t think Harry and Ginny's romance was developed well at all in the books (the musical, however, developed it wonderfully ~_^). It starts as a one-sided puppy love crush that Ginny has on her brother’s famous best friend. And for most of the series Harry sees Ginny as Ron’s cute little sister. And when Ginny grows up, she seems to get over her crush and pursue other guys. Then, all of a sudden, in book 6 Harry realizes out of the blue that Ginny was his ~*soulmate*~ all along. And he celebrates this revelation by shoving his tongue down her throat in middle of the Gryffindor common room in full view of everyone they know (including most of Ginny’s older brothers!!). Ick! >_<

Almost all of their interactions after that reminded me of bad shoujo manga. Their romantic dialogue was gag inducing and they behaved like dumbasses around each other. The worst example was at the wedding in book 7; Ginny got jealous when 17-year-old Harry said “hi” to an 11-year-old Veela girl. Ginny was jealous of a freakin’ 11-year-old (which means she obviously doesn’t think too highly of Harry if she believes he might conceivably tap that).
