I've been neglecting my poor livejournal lately, so I thought I'd put up some of my recent cross-over art (even if most people here probably aren't Sly Cooper fans)
Since I've already done a ton of scribbles depicting the Sly characters in the Rescue Rangers Universe (
click here to see them), I thought it would be fun to depict the Rescue Rangers in the Sly Cooper universe and see what fun changes can come of it.....
--I figure that, in the Sly Universe, the Rescue Rangers would function as a sort of mercenary private detective agency that specializes in unusual crimes (like the plot of a USA Network show LOL). And that Carmelita would be open to hiring them to help her with cases (because hiring private mercenaries to back her up was something she happily did in Sly 3)
--Since insect people are a thing in the Sly universe (see: The Contessa), I opted to make Zipper a kid sidekick. I imagine he'd be Monty's adopted son in this crossover (kinda like Kit and Baloo in Talespin). And that he would still speak by buzzing because of a speech impediment or something.
--I gave each Ranger a weapon because I figure they'd need them if they're teaming up with someone like Carmelita. Chip would use a whip (like his hero, Indiana Jones), Dale would use a crossbow, Gadget would use a mini-shock pistol, Zipper would use a slingshot, and Monty would use his fists.
--Deciding what footwear they would choose was surprisingly fun. Dale would totally wear socks with sandals!
Talespin/Sly Crossover: Penelope's Feminine Air A friend suggested that I try inserting some Sly Cooper characters into an actual Talespin episode. So I picked the most obvious choice and inserted Penelope into the episode "Feminine Air" (aka "the episode where every male pilot except Baloo is a raging, sexist douchebag").
Sadly, I couldn't find video of the episode online; so here's
a synopsis:
Rebecca starts losing business because some misogynist pilots convince her clients that a woman isn't capable of running an air cargo business (and that Baloo is a lesser pilot because he works for a female boss). Baloo decides to enter (and win) an air scavenger hunt to stick it to the sexist bullies. But only an all-female aviation club will sponsor Higher for Hire. So Baloo disguises himself as a lady to compete in the contest.
ARTIST'S NOTES:
--I watched the episode and tried to find a way to include Penelope that makes sense in the show's canon. Since the audience never sees Wildcat in that episode, it's plausible that he was hanging out with Penelope while doing his own job and never found out what Baloo was up to. And I think he'd be the type to try and convince Penelope to seize an opportunity to be able to fly without having to hide behind a false identity.
--The coconut bra gag is my favorite part. Because I have no maturity whatsoever! XD
--The
brilliant idea of Wildcat and Penelope being old buddies came from
