Well, it took me two months, but I've finally finished the quilt I started for NGA. I blame work and Jeremy (or McMissing, as Laura likes to call him), because I've been too busy and had no motivation to watch Smallville. And, since I planned to work on the quilt in my free time while watching Smallville, the plan fell to the wayside.
What made me decide to finally finish it? I needed the basket I used to hold the pieces.
Now all I have to do is make it out to Warminster sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. sometime in the next week or two so I can drop it off, and then it can go to someone who needs it. Which is awesome, because now I feel useful again, and somewhat helpful to society.
In other news, I filed for my vacation days today - I'm taking off the week between Christmas and New Year's, which will be awesome. And Matt should be able to cover the paper that week, so no worries on my part and (hopefully) no work-related phone calls. Now all I have to do is figure out what to do with my week off! I want to go skiing one day, and I want to go somewhere for New Year's. Other than that, it's up in the air. Yay for free time!
Oh, and I have to attend an event that's "elegantly casual" on Saturday night for an hour or two. What the heck is elegantly casual?! This oughta be fun...
And finally, I had a fun conversation with Terry at work today. She asked me if I'd talked to a certain friend about something, and when I'd said "not yet," she told me that I really should get it out in the open and be completely honest. At which point I told her, "Well I will, but I have to be asked. I don't immediately show my hand, as it were, but if i'm asked I will be completely open and honest. I like the 'frying pan to the temple' approach." Terry's response? "Temple? Why would you take a frying pan to a temple? What's that mean, are you cooking something?" Terry cracks me up, she's always good for a smile. :-)
