In spite of the cold and heavy winds that have set in, I'm keeping (for the most part) safe and warm where I'm at right now. I have plenty of food, though I just ran out of coffee this morning and am wanting to get the opportunity to get a few other drink items, as well as some fresh vegetables as there are only carrots, onion and celery here, aside from the dozen cans of green beans in the cupboard and HUGE bag of french fries that are in the freezer. Tonight, I will make a nice spaghetti dinner, though, since Leenie is joining me for a while to do our regular dance night. At least the roads are now clear of black ice, so she can make it over.
🎶Time is the time, of the season.
Holdin' fast, don't let go🎶
With the roads having been treacherous the last few days, I didn't get over to Dave's place while he and his wife are away, but the winds last night ripped part of the roof off JD's place, so he will be staying there until things can be repaired at his own home. And the Soong Greenhouse (Aha's) ended up with some pretty extensive damage too, so there will be a lot of things to restore and replace. I'm just glad no one was hurt, particularly since Rahni (when going to get Namfi to stay with them at the brick home she and Joy are living in) ended up first going fishtail and spinning out at one intersection due to the black ice and wind combined, and then having her little car nearly blown over because of the wind, once she was pulling onto the road that would lead to the apartment that Namfi is in which also happens to be the road to the place I'm staying, too. This is another big reason I don't like the Midwestern U.S. Weather here sucks.
🎶Rock me slow, take me down easy.
Bring me home again
Where the four winds blow🎶
As I've been here by myself, though, I've spent some time chatting with others online and working on ideas for some more entries and taking a bunch of my past to turn into story-form for novella that helps deliver some deep messages of understanding, too. Along with that, the entries I'm going to be starting the new year with will also add to that to a degree; subjects like:
What do I truly value?
How do I really handle stress?
What are my strengths/weaknesses?
Who inspires me, and who did in my past; why them?
How do I define success?
What (besides my adorable sister of childhood) brings me Joy?
What do I need to let go of, and what was difficult to let go?
How do I treat others, why do I treat them that way, and in what ways have I changed in my treatment of others?
Do I have a legacy to leave, or have I left one; just what does that mean to me and to those I have/will leave that legacy to?
What does my inner voice say - what did it say in the past - and why does/did it tell me that?
🎶Cool is the touch, that calms the water
And strong's the hand, that pulls the load🎶
Learning different forms of writing, storytelling, doing my due diligence for historical accuracy since my tale will begin in the 1970's, utilizing the region I grew up in, I am wondering if I'll be able to locate many stock photos I might use for showing what the area looked like, any maps that might still be found, and there are some local historical tours I plan to attend, in the new year, too. I'll be interesting, and is bound to stir a lot of memories, disturbing and disheartening, but also those that offer delight to the soul. My journey of healing is just beginning, really, though it feels like I've come so far already. But I'm looking forward to the course I am on. It's cold, and dark; but it's always darkest before the dawn, and I'm looking forward to seeing that gloriously colorful sunrise! As Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) said, in Pirates of the Carribean "Bring me that horizon!"
🎶Mountains high and valleys low
Take me home again
Lay me where the four winds blow
When the sun's sinkin' low🎶
I always loved the look of this area during the wintertime. So much character and beauty offered in spite of the lack of funding from the city when it came to doing more than basic repairs; so, the community did what they could to make it wonderful! The end of the year holiday season brought cheer through colorful lights and winter flowers.
