eye doctor

So I went to the optomitrist today because I finally have health insurance again and I would very much love to get contacts for the first time in three years. And the optomistrist is always an ordeal, because of how bad my vision is.

They do the whole prescription check on this little machine, and then they take me back and numb the eyes for the glaucoma test, and then dilate my eyes to check whatever. Now I have to get a double dose of those drops, because people with brown eyes take longer to diaate then people with light eyes. Then there's the exam with the doctor which is fine, we chit chat and what not. But everyone who sees my chart, including Dr. Lord, say to me [paraphrased of course] "Oh wow! Your near-sightedness, have you ever thought about lasik?" And outwardly I answer "Oh yes, I'd love to get it, but it's a matter of money." But inside I'm thinking "YES I'VE THOUGHT ABOUT IT. DO YOU THINK IT'S FUN BEING THIS BLIND? ALSO WOULD YOU LIKE TO PAY FOR IT FOR ME?"

But today Dr. Lord told me that I'm a good candidate for it, my prescription hasn't changed that much or is within a range or whatever. So maybe in ten years I can afford it lol.

But back to the drops. My eyes react poorly; they stay dilated for way longer than they're meant to, so now, almost four hours later, I look like I'm on a terrific amount of drugs, and I'm sitting back here in my lair, in the dark, like a cave dwelling creature, with the text on the computer screen blown up about five times the size I normally need, because I'm still blurry from the numbing drops.

But yay contacts soon!
