last 2 days!

so im on my last couple of days in costa rica and im def getting excited to go home.

i know in 3 weeks when i start school again i wont feel so keen on being home anymore. but for now, i want to see my family and my friends and everyone else i love! plus, we leave for the beach 4 days after i get home. hells yeah!

my last 2 weeks here were okay i guess. my second project was EXTREMELY beautiful but the people were so unfriendly and the rangers were so unappreciative. plus, i was living in really cramped and shitty quarters with tons of people (and mosquitos for that matter). the first day i got there i was put with a group of 26 other people, 22 of which were really annoying 15 to 18 year olds. they only stayed for two days though and then i got to live with a huge costa rican family for two days! that was nice and it sucked at the same time. they fed me a lot and i got to speak spanish all the time. plus, we played fun games which was good because it made the time pass much faster. it was still way too many people in one area though and they would always stay up obsurdly late being loud and obnoxious when i had to get up early for work the next day. then, when they left the new volunteers arrived. not nearly as cool as the volunteers from my last project but they were okay. finally after a week there, i said screw it and came back to san jose early to stay at a hostel until i leave tomorrow to go back to my host family.

its really nice here and the people are great! ive meet so many people from all over the world, and had so many wonderful experiences. i would say the highest percentage of people here seems to be europeans. i finally met someone from austrailia the other day though, and south africa too!  everyone is really cool though. last night a group of people and i went out to a really yummy thai/indian/japanese restaurant and had a blast. and i really love downtown san jose. it really is a cool city with so much life! the only thing that sucks is the pollution from cars. plus, i see people just throw their trash in the air when they are walking. youd think for costa rica being such an environmentally advanced country that people would care more, but thats really not the case. they dont even recycle here! and i cleaned so much shit off the beaches in cabo blanco it was ridiculous. my friend and i were joking that we could start a shoe store with all the shoes we found scattered everywhere.

so, yeah, i go to my host family tomorrow and then on monday morning i go to the embassy to get my new passport and then i head home! hopefully everything will be uneventful and i will get home with no problems or lost baggage!

hasta luego!
