Summary: Different version of what could have happened after Bree takes Rex home from the hospital.

Rex Van De Kamp looked up at the knock on his hospital room door.
“Come in” He called, closing his bag.
The door opened and his wife stepped into the room, looking beautiful and cool like always in a black pencil skirt and a blue cashmere sweater with a string of pearls around her neck.
“Hi.”
“Hello, Rex- are you ready?”
“Yeah, we can go.”
He followed Bree down the corridor, thinking how absurd it was that he was letting her pick him up- he had asked for a divorce after all, he should have packed his things and gone to a motel straight away.
He watched Bree unlock her car, noticing the way her hair gleamed fiery red in the sunlight and for a moment he had to remind himself that he had good reasons for wanting to move out, dozens of them- she was cold and uptight and emotionless and he wanted to get out and live a little for a change- but still he couldn´t help but watch her, enchanted as she gracefully got into the driver´s seat.
They didn´t speak on the journey to Wisteria Lane and Rex was grateful for the lack of conversation- all he wanted was to take a shower and get changed and then move into the guest room- and tomorrow he would start looking for an attorney.
They got out of the car in front of their house and Rex got his suitcase out, then walked up the garden path after Bree who had already entered the house.
He carried his suitcase upstairs and had just begun to unpack it when light footsteps announced Bree entering the room.
“What do you think you are doing?”
Rex straightened up and turned around to her.
“I´ve told you I want a divorce- so I´ll move in here until we have-“
„No way.“
„Excuse me? What do you mean, no way? What do we have a guest room for?”
Bree folded her arms, looking challengingly at her husband.
“Well, as you just said, it´s the guest room- it´s for guests. You have a bedroom already and if you don´t want to sleep in here anymore, you can go and sleep on the couch.”
“Bree, you can´t forbid me to sleep in the guestroom.”
“Watch me.”
Her eyes were glittering dangerously and Rex instinctively recoiled.
He had known of course she would be upset but he had more thought she would try to reason with him, perhaps even ask him not of leave her, he hadn´t been prepared for her to be furious at him.
“Bree, you can´t mean this, the sofa is just-“
“Uncomfortable? Humiliating? Exposed? That´s just perfect for you Rex, you remember when you told me a marriage is about sharing everything? So you´re more than welcome to feel like I feel right now.”
She reached for his suitcase and pulled it off the bed, then pushed her husband out of the room and closed the door behind her.
Rex watched incredulously as she locked to door and put the key into her pocket before flashing him her usual false smile and walking down the corridor and towards the staircase.
