MINE- *coughahem* Fill: C'mon, what's the harm?earth_heartJune 26 2011, 12:45:06 UTC
"I just don't see why it's necessary." Castiel stares at Dean, his brow furrowing and his head tilting slightly as he studies his soulmate. Dean is staring back at him, full lips pushing out into something he knows Dean will forever deny is a pout and green eyes glittering with determination and the barest beginnings of hurt. "We are already technically married, Dean. We have a profound bond."
"Yeah, well, I can't exactly walk around shirtless and show off your engagement ring," the hunter grinds out, motioning towards his left shoulder where Castiel's brand has been burned into his shoulder since his resurrection. "C'mon, Cas, seriously. What's the harm? This will just make it official in the eyes of the law!"
The angel frowns and shifts slightly, his trench coat falling more comfortably around him with a soft rustling noise as he stretches out his wings. Dean looks so earnest, so hopeful, and when he looks like that Castiel can almost never deny him.
"Why do we need authenticity in the eyes of Man's law when God already acknowledges our bond?" He is not saying no to Dean - he has found it is very difficult to say no to the hunter when Dean is truly passionate about something. Still, Castiel wants to know why it's so important when they are already married.
Dean ducks his head and looks away, shoulders hunching and eyes shuttered. He is embarrassed and Castiel watches curiously. Eventually his mate huffs and looks at him again. "I want a ring," he mutters, cheeks tinting in a way Castiel knows he will never admit to. "I want a stupid piece of paper with our names on it proclaiming our profound bond in the eyes of Man's law."
It dawns on Castiel then, what Dean really wants. Dean wants a shred of normalcy his life as a hunter has always denied him. For once, even if just for a day, his mate wants to feel as though he can have something special that won't be taken away by pain and blood and anger. He wants to feel normal.
Cupping Dean's cheek, he leans forward and flutters a kiss over his lips. "Very well, Dean. We will begin preparations immediately. I assume we will be holding the ceremony at Bobby's house?"
Emotions swirl through Dean's emerald eyes; joy, happiness, warmth, affection, and above all a love so powerful it makes his soul blaze brighter than an Archangel's Grace. Castiel smiles and kisses his mate again, just a soft brush of their mouths, before following him into the house so that they can inform Bobby and Sam of their decision.

This was so awesome. You managed to keep it in character and tie it into Dean's longing for normalcy. This is just so adorable. Exactly what I wanted. Thanks!
