Things I liked about SPN 6.01:
Dean is hot barefoot.
And in tight jeans.
Things I hated about SPN 6.01:
JFC this felt like a paint-by-numbers episode. Nothing about it was funny, scary, or the slightest bit touching. Every performance was wooden or awkward, and clearly just reciting lines. Camera shots were awkward or cliche. Dialogue was forced and dull.
For some reason the YED was orange.
Lisa has no personality. She walks around - basically mute - obeying Dean's orders. She makes this weird "I'm a silly girl, but I understand you" face. Apparently Dean was the best year of her life, because obviously she had no life before him as evidenced by the fact that he has infiltrated every facet of her life creepily fast.
Jensen was right about Dean. He's completely neutered. He has no passion. People pile shit on him and he just takes it. His protests are weak and he doesn't throw a punch when he should. My problem isn't with his suburban life, it's that he acts like a fucking robot. He doesn't care about Sam, and I don't feel like he cares about Ben and Lisa either.
The whole thing was edited to make very little sense.
Where the fuck were AC/DC?
Why the inexplicable and random overhaul of the djinn mythology without any explanation? Why make your monsters way less interesting?
The new people are awkward and creepy, though not in a good way. Samuel and the rest of Sam's new family can go fuck themselves, because I just don't care. They have no personalities.
Oh, and WTF Jared Padalecki.
The music was bad. The sets were too obvious. The lighting was boring. The whole fucking episode was boring and repetitive and made me feel nothing except disappointment.
Jared and Jensen have no chemistry.
This was not what I waited months for.
Listen, I get that this might be the ultimate hurt/comfort thing, but honestly? I don't know if I want to bother waiting for the "What is Samuel up to?" or the "What the fuck is wrong with Sam?" reveals because this was painful to watch. And not painful because it affected me emotionally; painful because it should've and it didn't.
Cas better turn this shit show around.
