Comments on TV, new and otherwise:

I accidentally stumbled across West Wing icons in a multi-fandom post today, and I've spent the last hour and a half watching clips and reading quotes. I definitely think my all-time favorite scene is Josh and Donna and Toby and Danny and Will and Charlie in the snow, in Inauguration (II): Over There. Not only is it a spot-on adorable Josh/Donna moment, it's hilarious and sweet and the relationships and behavior of ALL the characters are just outrageous enough for you to believe they've had a little bit to drink but still so them. Seriously, the only character I dislike on this show is Amy, and that may have something to do with the fact that I didn't see her major arc all the way through in one go. (I also go back and forth on Joey Lucas.) But the rest of them? So much, unbelievable amounts, of love.

I need to watch this show again, start to finish. I just did that this summer - what's the rush? Oh, just that it's BRILLIANT.

Oh, Shawn. You are so juvenile and self-involved that I should hate you, but you still make me love you for reasons that I cannot fathom. I suspect this is how Juliet feels. (Though guys? I thought we'd more or less established by now that she doesn't actually think he's a psychic but thinks he's good enough that she doesn't care. Like the Chief. Oh well. Maybe I was wrong.)

I loved Henry's reaction to seeing Shawn on TV. Just, "Oh, for the love of God, not again." Also loved Shawn's reaction to hearing that Gus was a hostage. And Lassiter's general state of being in this episode. And oh, Russell. It's hard to see you and not think "ineffective and jokey Vice President". (Also, dude? WAY too old for Juliet.) So I loved Shawn's "analysis", and the hilariously cracky music playing at his entrance. This show is just ridiculous crack, and I love it.

To get this out of the way: AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH. :D MOST ADORABLE SHOT OF TWO PEOPLE KISSING EVER. EVER. I love when people are smiling so hard that they can barely kiss, even though that's all they want to do. Every time I see those photos floating around, I get this huge ridiculous grin on my face. :D (Though imagine Jim and Pam telling that story to their kids. "Kids, your dad proposed to me at a gas station. In the rain. On his lunch break." "It was romantic at the time, I swear!" Hee.)

Now. When I first saw Michael's goatee, I thought he was trying to make himself look like Ricky Gervais, and it was working. But I couldn't imagine a world in which he'd know Ricky Gervais without things getting all weird and meta. I mean, there aren't international paper salesmen conventions, are there? Please tell me there aren't.

Michael/Holly remains unexpectedly adorable, and I still really like her. Michael's still an idiot (DUDE. WHY TEAR UP CONCERT TICKETS?), but he's not really as bad around her. He actually makes an effort to be less crazy and succeeds, which is something we haven't really seen before, even with Jan. And, in the later months, ESPECIALLY with Jan. And as misguided as he was, that body image thing was really unbelievably sweet towards Kelly. For some people, that would be demeaning or embarrassing, but that was exactly what Kelly needed and went a long way towards making her healthy again.

Um. What else? OH. Andy/Angela/Dwight. Oh, man. Office mattress, much? :P I feel so bad for Andy, the poor guy. He loves her, and she just - what is she doing? What is she using him for? She gets both sex and affection from Dwight, without the guilt of doing wrong by him (though she is, now, but if she were dating him as she clearly wants, she wouldn't be) - what is keeping her tied to Andy? I just don't get it. Unless she's just afraid to end it? But that's not really a side of her we've seen before. She's blunt, plain-spoken, unafraid of honesty. What is she doing? Anyone have any ideas?

Cute. :D I love where they're going with Angela and Hodgins - that was such an Angela take on the end of a good relationship. And, oh man, I LOVE Sweets: anyone else think he was totally playing Angela to get her to leave him alone? That's what I thought, up until he looked depressed when she left.

Best moment of the episode: Brennan's pleased little smile when Angela left saying that she'd helped. Aww. I love them together. More of that, writers, please - we used to have such good Brennan/Angela friendship moments, and lately that's kind of been missing.

Do we think Depressing Guy is going to stick around? He's endlessly depressing, yes, but he's also really good. He was also kind of entertaining in the sheer absurdity. Of course, that's why I don't think he'll be around long, if at all, because he's not a real character, just a caricature. (This is why I was hoping that what's-his-face the first guy would stick around. I liked him, especially after The Verdict in the Story.)

Hmm, what else? Ooh. Loved the office drone thing: all the cigarettes, all the little frogs. I loved that they had the entire office smoking but didn't even really comment on it at all. Very understated, for them. I am surprised that the Indian guy wasn't a part of the crime or even a suspect - he was very high-profile for a background character. Maybe he'll turn up later?

I am so glad they've kind of turned down the Booth/Brennan thing, for now. I don't want them together. (God, I have such an unhealthy take on relationships. Perhaps this explains why I've had multiple serious crushes but no boyfriend?) But really: they're so comfortable and easy together, and I love them like this, and I'm worried that an actual relationship would ruin the entire show. Booth and Brennan aren't Jim and Pam: they aren't real people with a real relationship. They're exceptional, and Brennan especially doesn't function like everyone else. Please don't go that route, guys, even though everyone is praising the Office writers for doing it. Keep us in the will-they-won't-they a good while longer.

And this became all about Booth and Brennan for an episode where I was actually squealing about Angela and Hodgins most of the time. (Yes, severuslovesme, I didn't care about Booth and Brennan in this one, really. But Angela and Hodgins were amazing, and I am quite delighted with the path they've taken.)

This show left me craving a really fantastic burger SO MUCH and I am SO in the wrong country for that. Blech. If I were at home or school, I'd have endless lists of places to go, but here it's either McDonald's or Quick (European? fast food), both of which are expensive and BAD. I still want a really good burger. :(

Liked the episode otherwise, though. Robin was cute. It grosses me out to watch people eat that close up.

Um. That's it for now. Pushing Daisies tomorrow, perhaps?
