Ahh, fandom. You make my life infinitely more interesting.
This video (found via crack_van) is a pretty awesome and emotional homage to fandom. The effects sometimes get on my nerves, but they do add so much to the impact of the video that I can't imagine it without them. Plus, the song is awesome and so incredibly apt that I can't help but wonder if Regina Spektor intended "Us" to be about fandom.
I think it's interesting how everyone involved in fandom is doing so partly out of a love for the source material, but also because they want the more that is available in that source, whether it's an epic quest or an imaginary world or merely a group of people so tightly knit. And in finding other people who want that more too, we create it for ourselves. It's wonderfully self-fulfilling.
