This was my childhood, people

Ahh, Deathly Hallows. I finished it two days ago, after reading fervently until 5 in the morning and then all the next day, and now (when I can get it - my sister's reading it now) I still grab it up whenever possible, hug it, and read random selections. I really need to reread it, and sort everything out in my head ( Read more... )

Great, great review! But why does no one (and I mean, out of all of the reviews I've read from my flist) talk about Chapter 34? I was hysterically crying through chapter 34, because I honestly thought Harry was going to die, and that would be the end of that. It was just a perfectly constructed chapter: Harry says, "I am about to die" to open the Snitch, and then seeing the shadows of Lupin, his parents, and Sirius, and him saying to Lupin especially, "I did not want any of you to die," and then asking them does it hurt to die? God, my heart was BREAKING for Harry.

No icons to recommend, but I am working on creating a post-Deathly Hallows elite fanfic archive. I'm still working on it, and the progress is very slow, because I can't really find GOOD stories. I find a lot of crappy or mediocre stories, but not many GOOD stories.

You know what, you're right. This was really just written off the top of my head, as I thought of things, and for some reason that chapter wasn't one of the things that appeared. But it was an incredibly powerful chapter. I might have to write something on that whole sequence of events later on.

I think a lot of the good stuff will come later. It's going to take a while, especially the chaptered ones (though I generally prefer one-shots). But I'd love to see that, when you've got something to go on. And might I recommend Lirazel, who hasn't written much post-DH yet, but is inevitably brilliant? I've got a whole bunch of authors on ff.net that I love, but she always stands out.

Thanks for your author recommendation! I've just been browsing Portkey.org and quidditchpitch.org and some other sites, and really, good stuff is really hard to come by. I'll definitely check out Lirazel!

Do you have your favorite authors on ff.net favorited somewhere? I would really love to get a list of your favorite authors to check out their work, if it's not too much work for you.

They should be here, but that might just bring you to my author profile. But if you click on Favorite Authors, there's a list of 19 great authors. :D
